Açai grows naturally and plentifully in the Brazilian rainforest. It's harvested today by the same low-impact method used for centuries — climbing high into the açai palm tree to retrieve stems of ripe fruit and hand-stripping the berries into woven baskets. Making the açai tree a valuable economic resource enables local communities to conserve the forest.
